Krais has fifteen years experience teaching in
primary
schools in Barnet. She began her career as a class
teacher, working in years 3, 4, 5 and 6. She has also
been year group leader, assessment co-ordinator, teacher
governor and a member of the school senior management
team. Her last four years were spent as special
educational needs and inclusion co-ordinator, managing
teaching staff and resources and planning programmes for
children with special needs.
In 2007 she set up her own consultancy called "Surviving School Transfer", advising parents on all aspects of secondary transfer. Katie went on to write her book "Teach yourself getting your child into secondary school" which was published in 2009 by Hodder as part of their bestselling 'Teach Yourself' range. This book provides help to parents, arming them with up to date knowledge, facts and rules about the transfer system as well as providing them with realistic expectations about future schools based on thorough assessments.
As assessment co-ordinator and special educational needs co-ordinator, Katie has delivered INSET for her Local Authority and has presented Seminars to parents about key parenting issues. Katie has an excellent understanding of the information parents need to have in order to make an informed judgement about the ability of their children and how to move them forward in order to get the best education available.
Katie lives in London and is married with two children.
